Amber DME

Description

Sometimes called sparkling/amber dried malt extract (DME). It is made using a blend malts such as pale malt, munich malt, and crystal malts. Owing to the contributions of munich and crystal malts, amber DME will produce beers with similar rich maltiness, residual sweetness, mouthfeel, and body. In general, the exact composition of malts used to make a given amber DME will not be advertised and might vary substaintially between brands.

Beer Styles

Amber DME is good for any styles that are amber-colored or darker. It works especially well for styles with prominent malty and sweet flavors such as brown ale, brown porter, and amber ale. Used as 100 percent of the fermentables it will produce beers that are amber to light brown, so darker beers will require the addition of some dark DME / LME or dark roast grains.
