Northern English brown ale is similar to southern English brown ale except with more hops and a focus on nutty flavors and a dry finish instead of caramel sweetness.
Brewing Northern English Brown Ale
Grains – English pale malt, with crystal malts, and possibly some chocolate malt.
Hops – UK hop varieties –used for balanced bittering and hop aroma.
Yeast – English Ale yeast strains with relatively high attenuation.
Water – Most water profiles should be suitable except for those with extremely high or low carbonate levels and those with extremely high sulfate levels.
