English IPA is the model for all English pale ales and bitters. American IPA is an homage to traditional English IPAs that uses American hops and ingredients.
Brewing English IPA
Grains/Adjuncts – English pale malt provides a base. Crystal malts may provide some color and malt interest. Sometimes includes non-malt adjuncts like sucrose.
Hops – English hop varieties generously added throughout the boil. Dry-hopping is common.
Yeast – English ale strains with a fruity/estery profile or a minerally/sulfur profile.
Water – High sulfate content with low carbonate content.
