Summit
Alpha-Acid (%)
17.0 - 18.5
Description
Summit is a hop variety derived from Zeus and Nugget. It was released for production in 2003 by the USDA hop breeding program. This American hop variety has a very high percentage of alpha-acids. Summit is a very economical source of hop bitterness. When used for early additions they produce a clean hop bitterness without much additional flavor. When used later in the boil it can impart onion and garlic flavors with some earthiness, citrus, and spicy flavors. Although, dry hopping and late aroma additions may avoid the onion flavors and produce more of a citrus character.
