Simcoe
Alpha-Acid (%)
12.0 - 14.0
Description
An American bittering hop with high concentrations of alpha-acid. When used for aroma additions it can impart an intense pine tree aroma with some citrus and earthy qualities. This is probably due to its extremely high levels of myrcene a hop essential oil associated with citrus and pine flavors. Chinook is another American hop variety with a similar pine-like character. Simcoe might be a little smoother with a slightly less resinous quality to its bitterness than Chinook.
